Connecticut Brownstone, Fieldstone and Old Plaster
Our Connecticut jobs reach Fairfield County towns like Greenwich, Darien and Westport, the Hartford and Middletown stretch of the Connecticut River valley, the Litchfield Hills, New Haven, and the Quiet Corner around Woodstock, Pomfret and Putnam in Windham County.
This state runs from the Gold Coast at one end to the Quiet Corner at the other, and the two ends ask for different things. Fairfield County towns hold large older houses carrying detail that is expensive to replace and owners who plan a year out rather than a week. Up in the northeast corner, and along the river valley through Hartford and Middletown toward the Sound, the housing is colonial farmhouse stock on fieldstone, with barns and dry laid wall behind it. Brownstone turns up here the way it does nowhere else in the region, in steps, sills, lintels and foundation courses, and it is a soft stone: it sheds in sheets and it does not get along with a hard modern mix packed into its joints. Fieldstone shifts with frost every spring. Indoors, most of what stands went up well before 1978, so plaster over lath, tall baseboards, paneled doors and painted sash are the normal condition and lead gets raised before a sander is plugged in. The Litchfield Hills add grade to the problem, putting retaining walls and stair runs under water pressure at every thaw and pushing them out of line.
A project down here runs on a block schedule. We hold consecutive days, bring what the entire job needs, and work it through in one stretch, because driving two hours for an afternoon and back again is not a service anybody should be charged for. The walkthrough goes on the calendar with the work rather than in front of it on demand, and that gets said at the first conversation instead of buried in a proposal. The upside is one outfit on the whole property. Stone, floors, paint and cleaning arrive in a planned order, which matters more on an old house than anywhere else, since dust off a floor sanding will find a fresh cut line at the ceiling and a wall has to be pointed before it is ever coated. The scope is written out and priced before work starts, and it does not quietly grow once a crew is on site. Big jobs are what justify the distance: repointing a chimney and a foundation, refinishing a whole level, painting a house inside or out. Those run a week at minimum. Weekly cleaning stays on routes we can genuinely hold.

How a Connecticut job gets scheduled
Everything starts with somebody standing in the actual place. We are based in Groton, Massachusetts, so work close to home runs on a weekly route and a same week window. Further out the job is held as a block of days on the calendar and the walkthrough is booked with it, not on demand. You hear which one your property is before you commit to anything, and either way the scope and the number come to you in writing first.
Houses and buildings, in every sector
What we take in Connecticut is the same list we take at home in Groton. Property type does not narrow it, and neither does sector.
Residential
Single family houses, condos and townhouses, two and three family buildings, apartment blocks and the units inside them, rentals between tenants, new construction at handover, and second homes.
Commercial, industrial and institutional
Offices and medical suites, retail stores and restaurants, schools, daycares and places of worship, gyms, salons and clinics, warehouses, plants and light industrial space, banks and professional offices, municipal and community buildings, plus the property managers and general contractors who hold several of these at once.
Work in Connecticut, quoted in writing.
We look at the property, agree what happens and in what order, and send the number in writing. If the distance changes what we can promise, you hear that first.
